2006 Generaciones Caja Madrid, Casa Encendida, Madrid

In this work Ben Dierckx concentrated on two of his main motives: the idea of copyright (by using existing artistic material) and a reflection upon the growing importance of chinese culture in Europe and the United States.

It’s an interactive work that is being produced ‘on the fly’ by a computer in accordance to the environmental sound. By sharing the authorship of the work with the chinese director Chen Kaige and by letting the public continue it Dierckx plays with the relation between them.

“Juntos: Black & White” shows, in negative, a modified sequence from the movie “He ni zai yi qi”, 2002. The software develloped for this installation mixes two identical sequences of video. It’s the sound of the environment that turns the image in positive.
